  • About

The Crimson Moon Cafe is conveniently located on the historic Public Square of Dahlonega, Georgia. It is housed in the c.1858 ''Parker-Nix Storehouse'' - the second oldest building on Dahlonega's charming historic square. The building was operated as a traditional southern ''general store'' for nearly fifty years, but has been recently renovated to become the home of ''The Southeast's Most Intimate Music Venue''... The Crimson Moon Café.

The nationally known listening venue and restaurant now offers a full service menu for breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner - with an organic coffee house, beer, wine, and handcrafted cocktails! Live, multi-genre and mostly acoustic music is offered most Wednesdays through Sunday evenings as well as some weekend afternoons, with reserved stage-floor ticketed seating for most events. Patrons who wish to simply enjoy great food, conversation and atmosphere are invited to walk upstairs to enjoy the New Orleans style fresh air porch overlooking the square, two private dining rooms, or the 'step back in time' bar in the c. 1858 ''Half Moon'' saloon. For reservations for show seating, please visit www.TheCrimsonMoon.com or call 706-864-3982. For dinner reservations or special / group events please call 706.864.3982

The opening chords of the first track, ''Inside,'' on award-winning, singer-songwriter, author, and activist Chely Wright’s new record, I AM THE RAIN, are direct, purposeful, and intense – a sound that defines the brilliant album. After more than five years away from the spotlight, and through a heroic personal and creative journey, Wright has returned with the release of a long anticipated new CD. And as she begins to sing the lyrics of ''Inside,'' her confidence, intelligence, and poetic ambition quickly come into focus. When it came time to record her new album, Chely knew it was going to be different from everything she had done in the past. Wright and multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning producer/artist Joe Henry (Allen Toussaint, Bonnie Raitt, Carolina Chocolate Drops) approached the work as a new beginning. Her recent songs were coming from a place of total openness and spoke to the kind of self-discovery that changes lives. www.chely.com Wyatt Espalin opens wyattespalinmusic.com ...read more

Good in The Kitchen is a group of gals who can cook it up just right. These women are all wonderful singers and love harmony. Ann Whitley Singleton brings fiddle, guitar and sometimes even banjo-ukulele to this great mix of sound. Debbielee Whelchel incorporates fabulous clawhammer banjo. Lisa Deaton, or LD as she is frequently called, and Sarrah Ellen McDonald both play guitar, and since all four women play bass, you never know who’ll take a turn there. You’ll hear old-time, bluegrass, roots Country, gospel, and Americana in one fun-packed show. ...read more

Some things you know are just meant to be—but even when you do, it’s nice to get some outside affirmation. So while Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley were sure that their musical partnership was the right move at the right time, it was still welcome news when their debut Compass Records project, Before The Sun Goes Down, earned a nomination for the Best Bluegrass Album Grammy just about the time that Ickes took leave of the band he’d been in for over 20 years to make the joint venture the centerpiece of his career. And with the release of their new project, The Country Blues on July 8th the pair build on the first one’s strengths to take their unique music. ...read more

Here is a little about Steve in his own words: My dad, Ray, was a great musician who played the guitar and sang along side of my mom and older brother Gary. Every weekend we had people over for singing and tea on the front porch, so I was exposed to music every day. When I turned twelve my dad passed. My oldest brother Gary bought a book that showed guitar chords and started to teach himself to play. Gary forbid me to touch the guitar, but when Gary would go to work on second shift, I would get the book and guitar out. Before long, I taught myself the cords and was playing simple hymns and songs. This started my addiction to music. ...read more
