The Mommy Time Out Retreat will assist you in focusing inward to reveal your deepest desires, as a mother and as a woman. We will focus on self-care techniques and mindful tools that you can apply to your daily life once you return home. This retreat will be a tune-up for your mind, body and soul. The Resort: Located just an hour north of Atlanta, Dahlonega Spa Resort feels like a world away. As you go through the winding road up the mountain, you experience the tranquility and beauty that surrounds you. The Cuisine: As part of your retreat package, all of your meals are included during the retreat, starting with dinner on night of arrival, breakfast, lunch and dinner the following days, and breakfast on day of departure. You will be presented with a variety of nourishing home-cooked meals. The menu will change daily and feature plant-based dishes. Some of the featured dishes might include soups, salads, stews, specialty sandwiches, and desserts. The Delights: The beauty of being a world away in the wilderness of the mountains is that you can really disconnect from the noises of everyday and tune in inside. Get a massage, take a nap, walk on the nature trails, go into town, visit a winery, or partake in the art of doing nothing. These things await your arrival. The Excursion: Also included in the retreat package is a trip to the beautiful Amicalola Falls State Park. Expect to witness breath-taking views of the tumbling waters from the many trails and staircases from the tallest cascading waterfall in the Southeast. Acclaimed authors and mother loss experts Hope Edelman (Motherless Daughters, Motherless Mothers) and Claire Bidwell Smith (The Rules of Inheritance, After This) will take women on a three-day journey to share stories from their pasts, discuss their present-day lives as women without mothers, and set gentle intentions for their futures. Together we'll examine issues such as the fear of dying young, resistance to self-care, and feeling ''stuck'' at the age we were when our mothers died. Using small and large group discussions, experiential work, and storytelling techniques we'll explore the unique strengths and weaknesses that stem from early mother loss and the opportunities they offer for continued growth. All classes/workshops will incorporate meditation and relaxation as well as some partner poses in the workshops. All classes/workshops are open to beginners and suitable for all levels. The retreat will include activities such as a group hike, walking meditation, and outdoor bonfire (weather permitting). The workshops will explore therapeutic poses and guidelines for incorporating yoga and meditation more fully in your life. The weekend will include healthy meal options and opportunities to discuss nutrition and healing foods. The retreat will be an opportunity to reflect, recharge, and re-align your mind and body in a beautiful and welcoming location in the North Georgia Mountains (just 1.5 hours from Atlanta). Participants can choose to be involved in all or some activities. Rates are all inclusive and cover deluxe accommodations for 2 nights in your choice of main inn or cabins, delicious food, and all activities, including the 4 yoga classes/workshops.
