Looking for the perfect location to celebrate 4th of July with your family and friends? Pack up your lawn chairs and blankets and head on up to Dahlonega, only an hour?s drive north of Atlanta, for a full day of exciting activities and events that the entire family will enjoy! Visitors will be moved by the powerful visual of more than 700 memorial markers and American flags that are displayed along the major roadways and corridors leading into Dahlonega and around the Historic Downtown Square, honoring the brave veterans who fought to protect our freedom. The fun-filled day will kick off with the Firecracker 5K followed by our famous 4th of July Parade at 11 am. Family fun doesn't stop there -- there are always lots of activities for every age group in Dahlonega, including panning for gold, kayaking, and tubing the Chestatee River, panning for gold on Consolidated Mine or Crisson Gold Mine, spending picnic family time in Hancock Park or Yahoola Park or just meandering the Historic Dahlonega Public Square, dining or searching for shopping treasures. At the end of the day -- as the sun is setting and darkness falls, get ready for the best fireworks display in North Georgia, set against a stunning University of North Georgia backdrop. We hope to see you there! ... read more
