Festivals

Festivals are an integral part of Dahlonega's rich heritage and are a superb way to take in the outdoor beauty of the area. From the Dahlonega Trail Fest in March to the Old Fashioned Christmas celebration in December, more than a dozen fun-filled festivals are held throughout the year.

Dahlonega's 20th annual celebration of Southern Appalachian music, art and folklore will be held the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17 in 2016. A picturesque town in the North Georgia foothills, the festival is a well-attended event which takes place in and around the town's Historic Public Square. As the third weekend in April approaches, keep an eye out for several planned special events to bring attention to the upcoming 20th year festival observance. Then on Friday, April 15, the day before the actual start of the festival, the participants in the weekend-long jamming around the square will begin arriving, and the Live and Silent Country Auction is scheduled that evening. Chestatee Artists, Inc., a Dahlonega non-profit art organization, will present a new festival the third weekend in May on May 21 & 22, 2016. Formerly known as the Mountain Flower Art Festival, the new name for this event is Dahlonega Arts & Wine Festival. Focus is on bringing in high quality arts and crafts to downtown Dahlonega, as well as having a Wine Garden for sampling fine local and regional wines. Come ride the Ride of the Pros! The Six Gap Century's ultra challenging route takes you up and down six of the steepest climbs in the North Georgia Mountains. Test your stamina with more than 11,200 feet of vertical climbing over the 104 mile course. Elevations for the six gaps in this ride range from 1,400 feet to 3,460 feet.
